@ExtinctionR I would not consider it a problem if somebody can rent Venice to create once-in-a-lifetime event and guests come with private jets.. if this was wedding of a king or the president of a big country, I don't think there would be such a protest. The problem, that I see, is the extreme inequality of wealth. Gini coefficient should be brought closer to the level of Austria, Australia or Belgium in all western world to bring more people into the common shared experience of the world..
@ExtinctionR Do you know why there are less oligarchs, billionaires and megacorps in Europe? Because of competition and regulation.

United States is the land of monopolies. That's why most megacorps are from there.

In Europe, there is always an alternative. For Ikea, you have Leroy Merlin or Bricoman. For Zara, you have Cortefiel or Mango. Etc.

There are richs, of course. But not at the same level of sickness like in the US.

@ExtinctionR even the father of capitalism, adam smith himself, was wary of excessive accummulation of wealth: "Wherever there is great property there is great inequality. For one very rich man, there must be at least five hundred poor, and the affluence of the few supposes the indigence of the many." Nowadays, the ration is 1 billionaire:at least 10,000,000 poor.
