You can now order your new ThinkPad with Ubuntu or Fedora Linux pre installed directly from factory. This is the perfect out of the box laptop for your dev job or IT pros stuff. Say goodbye to the "Windows tax" and hello to a powerful, fully optimized, privacy and data safety ready Linux machine.. unless you specifically require a Win11 environment. I think it is fantastic news for developers & IT Pros and I hear you can even upgrade BIOS/firmware using Linux. So there is no more need for Win11馃槈

@nixCraft does no one remember superfish and all the other dodgy shit lenovo has done? I honestly don't understand how some linux users can trust their hardware.

The real win is getting your new ThinkPad without the stupid "Windows tax." Once it's delivered, you're free to format it and install the Linux distro of your choice! Personally if I order such machine I will stick with Debian 13 or may be just go back to Arch Linux ;)

@nixCraft There's only one problem: in my experience - at least for Ideapads - it's not possible to get BIOS updates other than on Windows. Is this different for ThinkPads because they are higher tier?
