Linus, the creator of Linux and Git, is so savage 🤣. He doesn't hold back.
Linus Torvalds is OK with vibe coding as long as it's not used for anything that matters https://www.theregister.com/2025/11/18/linus_torvalds_vibe_coding/

@nixCraft I would hate to be an entry level or any other programmer forced to do vibe coding and know that one of the top IT people would look at what I do as "not mattering".
@nixCraft
I mean, that's pretty much it, such as anything AI, whoever wants to code with AI to have fun or whatever is able to, but I wouldn't want it on my OS.
Same goes with anything else, lots of people create AI art and I guess it is nice for personal use, but I hate to see it on TV or ads...
@nixCraft Yeah, that would make sense: vibe code things that don't matter. I myself have vibe-coded several bash scripts for managing my audio files. I'm not familiar with audio processing, and an LLM can make some quick scripts for me quicker than I would!
I would never vibe code a personal project, though. Same goes for my contributions to OSS.
@nixCraft I think that's every sensible programmer's opinion.
