@csepp the way I deal with it, is that for me, what I do at work it’s work, outside, it’s a creative activity. Now, sometimes you dont have energy for creative activities, and that’s ok. Sometimes just starting with something it’s a big effort. For me, I can only do my thing when work is on the light side or when I’m obsessed with a topic to the point that working on it is easier than trying to ignore it.
@csepp I do not. I can't even face computer games after work anymore, hence all the solo board games and magic.
@csepp I don't, I think it would burn me out if I tried. Too much sitting too.
@csepp I didn’t used to all that much but the instability of the past few years has been my main motivator lately. feeling like I gotta carve out more of my own space that no one can take away from me (unlike dayjob work)
making the home work as different as possible from the day work (language, editor, domain) also helps
@csepp I tried my best to frame it as a compartmentalization problem. I used to experiment with different setups, keep the personal/professional gap as wide and disjoint as possible. Different text editors, OSes, hardware, etc. I also changed my ergonomics. Different keyboards, and different desk layouts. I wanted things to physically feel different and distinct.
But yeah, sometimes you just come home and you're out of juice and that's that.
@csepp afternoon coffee's....
@csepp staying organized and exploring territory that has nothing to do with work. In fairness - I still accomplish very little, chipping away at things slowly.
i don't. i do as many fun non-computer-related activities as time permits.
