Remember "don't print this email" in signatures that was a bit cringe? It doesn't feel that cringe anymore in retrospect. I'm doing an experiment now with this new email signature :D Anyone doing something similar? Could it catch on?

@mntmn Only a few days ago I learned how real this impact is: xAI has set up 18 temporary turbines less than a mile from my neighborhood, which will soon expand to 41 permanent turbines. This site exists in the middle of several residential areas and the physical damage from the pollution (cancer, heart attacks) increases based on proximity.

We were talking about these signatures a few days ago! I knew people in the 2000’s who only read emails when printed…. Good idea!
@mntmn I never use Ai but I ask people to send me an email instead of sms or a whatsapp which I don't use either. My thought on this is that sending an email doesn't cost so much water than when I people use Ai. I write my own e-mails, born last century in 1967.
@mntmn ah I love this! I always thought the "don't print this email" message was wild, why would anyone print an email? And then a year ago I got a job at a warehouse where the boss (my age, mid 30s) printed SO MANY EMAILS. I had never seen anything like it and I could not dissuade her from doing it. Nor could I convince her to digitize paper records. Nor could I convince her not to use ChatGPT. I quit that job.

@mntmn In my memory, those signatures were ignored. So I have not high hopes about your version of it.
They also produce some feelings of shame in the reader, who may print the E-Mail or put something into ChatGPT. I have my doubts that shame is a good tool for that.
Especially for those of us who are disabled and use AI to help us manage our disability.
I don't understand why I, a disabled person who finally gets to be a normal person for a fucking second, have to give up my AI to save the planet.
How about we go after rich people and fuck up the disabled last this time. Just for a change? It'd be a refreshing difference from the always where we're the first to get fucked. 😿
