"I’m new to Linux, what’s the first distribution should I use?"

The answer here is always Ubuntu, right? All the proprietary software is tested for Ubuntu/Debian first, so it ensures the smoothest possible transition from Windows to Linux.

Is there any scenario where something like Fedora is the right answer? I swear I see more ".deb" files than I do ".rpm" files.

@notgull I always recommend Linux Mint as the first Linux distro.
