@joecardillo @DAIR It’s as though we build a tank, commercialize it, and then start to ask if it can be retrofitted to serve agricultural ends. “But if we want to build technology that helps people, we need to start with the process,” Gebru says. “Let’s not build a tank in the first place.”

This is exactly how large-scale industrial agriculture developed in my region, using military technology to apply pesticides and fertilizers.
