@Filene @chrastecky @librecast Yes, the overhead was part of it. Only having 8 days notice of the change of terms also didn't give us much time to react.

Since the IRC bridge broke the community has been split in two with @onepict acting as a human bridge between IRC and Matrix.

One of the main selling points of aiui is the ability to bridge between protocols, but either that doesn't work or is too hard to maintain, so I'm no longer sure what matrix is for.

@chrastecky We wrote a whole post detailing our reasoning and discussed it first with our matrix users. We lead with that.

Did you read the Libera.chat Matrix guide or FAQ? A lot of problems are documented there that still exist. That you got it working for 10 minutes doesn't mean it is usable or maintainable unfortunately.

We would still need a matrix homeserver and to maintain and moderate the bridge. We do not have resources for that.
