After 5 years of faithful service, my #refurbished #Samsung Galaxy S9 has died.

It's been replaced with a beautiful green @Fairphone 6 which I instantly fell in love with.

What's more: for the first time, I experienced the power of the #DigitalMarketAct:

My goal is to use the #Fairphone6 for 10 years or longer.

Starting with @murena's fantastic /e/OS #Android, replacing it later with @ubports's mobile Linux when that becomes available for the device.

I cannot overstate how grateful I am for all the people working on those free and open source projects that make the world a better place by defending our #DigitalRights. 💪

Oh well, looks like I will have to wait for another month before I can actually start using my brand new @Fairphone 6 because it currently runs #Android Stock ROM with security updates of November 5th.

I want to install @murena's /e/OS, which currently says it has security updates of November 1st built in, and the #Fairphone's Rollback Protection would apparently brick the phone if I tried to install an OS with an earlier security date. 😭

I mean I don't blame them, Security Patch Rollback Protection sounds like something I would want in my phone. But I kind of regret not having bought it with /e/OS pre-installed directly from Murena's online shop...

(which I did not because I wanted the green version which was sold out there 🙈)

@ilumium @_elena From what I can see you can still proceed but need to keep the bootloader UNLOCKED until the patch level is updated.

@Timshel Haha, yes I'm gonna wait until next week for v3.3 and in the meantime pick up the beautiful device every now and then to dreamily caress its soft casing.
