Israel’s “militarized humanitarian assistance mechanism” in the Gaza Strip is “in contradiction with international standards on aid distribution,” the UN human rights office (OHCHR) has warned, pointing out that the “weaponization of food” constitutes “a war crime.”

Over 410 Palestinians have reportedly been killed by Israeli forces since Israel’s US-backed GHF began operating on May 27, the OHCHR spokesperson stated.

Far from abating or slowing down, the mass slaughter, displacement and engineered starvation of the besieged Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip has continued at full throttle since Israel began attacking Iran two weeks ago.

But instead of this issue taking centre stage the deliberate destruction of Gaza has been reduced, at best, to a passing statistic tallying daily deaths.

At worst, it has been ignored altogether.

Gaza’s healthcare system is collapsing under the weight of Israel’s genocide.

Children are among the hardest hit. According to the Health Cluster, children now account for 23 percent of amputations, 26 percent of spinal cord injuries, 33 percent of traumatic brain injuries, and 70 percent of burn cases requiring surgery.

Yet, there are no specialized rehabilitation services for children anywhere in Gaza.
