Since the IRC bridge broke the community has been split in two with @onepict acting as a human bridge between IRC and Matrix.
One of the main selling points of #matrix aiui is the ability to bridge between protocols, but either that doesn't work or is too hard to maintain, so I'm no longer sure what matrix is for.
If you are using Matrix on the official central server, note that there are going to be restrictions very soon on the attachment size you can share with people. Because the org is losing money fast.
