Posting this from PinePhone running postmarketOS 25.06 with Phosh.

It's unbelievable how smooth of an experience this release is!
I know PP is very underpowered but I just love this hacky little phone and it's just so great to see it keep getting updates that make the experience better and better.

Thanks to the work of pioneers from #postmarketos it is actually easy to install any Linux OS on some phones. Here is #gnomeos on a OnePlus 6 that was installed through USB using systemd-repart. A few tweaks here and there, but it is almost stock GNOME OS.

It's so annoying that the exploit for the BlackBerry Key 2 LE is proprietary.

No, I'm not executing your random binary with full root rights.

Yes, I would like Linux on my BlackBerry Key 2 LE.

But I will wait for someone (with the right knowledge, not me) to reverse the binary so we can have a FOSS version...

Also, I'd love porting Mobian to this thing.

I have been testing the new 25.06 update for PostmarketOS on my OnePlus 6T and I must say the team has done an amazing work! Camera, GPS, Android apps and general system works well and is now, in my opinion daily driveable. Everything I personally wanted!

Thank you, @postmarketOS@treehouse.system! 🥳🤯

hi #permacomputers, #hackers, #bricoleurs

Starting to tinker with old/disused smartphones to self-host. However, upon buying a couple second-hand phones, I'm often faced with Google's FRP protection: you can only use the phone by connecting to the previous owner's google account. Factory reset doesn't solve this.
Do you have any trustworthy resources on bypassing this? terminal tools? forums?
Seems essentials to increase phone's lifespan.

thankssss

I'm super happy to share, that the #Fairphone (Gen. 6) was just announced, and we've been able to already publish a lot of code for it!

* #postmarketOS support is submitted
* 59(!) patches were sent to bring up upstream #Linux on the SM7635 SoC and enable the device.
* The stock Android source code is public on code.fairphone.com

This has been a lot of work over the last couple of months so it's awesome to finally be able to share it!
