I am kinda surprised that PeerTube never implemented or prioritized a TikTok like experience.
Tbh, if they did, or if Goldfish or Vidzy matured to the point of being considered a real contender before last November, I likely wouldn't have started Loops.
Why did I start Loops? Because I didn't want to copy IG and bring Reels to Pixelfed, and alienate a lot of our community by integrating video like that.
Keeping them separate is key.
And a year later, I'm almost ready to ship v1 馃槑
@dansup and I must thank you for doing that! If Pixelfed was at least a tiny bit closer to TikTok, it would be unusable for me personally. And I love Pixelfed, it's awesome ^^
Mastodon and other microblogging platforms, and even Pixelfed are okay for video.
But something like TikTok or Reels, where you have a dedicated video feed isn't something you can just slap a client onto.
Also, I'm building a federated recommendation algo in Loops that will be the key to retention and interest.
