Biggest web scraping/LLM company in the world is suing a web scraping company for web scraping its content obtained illegally without paying for it. isn’t that something? It is not like that Google does something like that.. oh wait a sec..

At the end of the day, the only winners are big tech companies and their lawyers. The real losers in this battle are small, independent players people who write books, create music/art for a living, or journalists who do the actual legwork. The work of these individuals is used to train AI, allowing bit tech to collect massive money from Ads and API fees. When I say 'massive,' I’m not just talking about millions, they are making billions per quarter from chatbots like Gemini and API usage.

@nixCraft my counterpoint. big tech facilitates cultural pursuits and the recording thereof. It provides access to cultural material and enables us to learn, reproduce and develop it. tech saves us from the death and erasure of culture.

The innovation and analytical tools that come out of big tech spreads to wider society, finds new applications and is revolutionary in its long term effects.

in the era of global megacorp, the risk of social collapse is mitigated by big tech.
