Windows User: My computer froze again. I have to restart it for the third time today

Linux User: That’s rough. My system has been running for 3 years straight without a single crash

Windows User: Wow! What have you been doing with all that uptime?

Linux User: Trying to get my usb ink printer to work 😅

@nixCraft we forked out for a B&W, ethernet capable laser printer YEARS ago because I was sick of that bullshit. One of the smartest tech decisions I ever made, I reckon.

@nixCraft weirdly enough, I’ve found the opposite is true. Getting printers to work on Windows was always a nightmare, but most of the time it works just fine on Fedora!

@nixCraft Linux was warning us all along that the printers were evil. That’s why they only work with apple and msft.

@nixCraft

Oh, you're going to hate me. I did that very recently, a Canon inkjet printer or some sort. The guy who got it spent an hour to get it running on his windows computer. My linux laptop connected and printed something on the first go.

Sorry, I'm genetically coded to be a spoil-sport 'um acktshually' guy.

@nixCraft it's a good joke, and I am sure there is merit to it, but I have had a notable run of never having any issues with printers for about 6 years now on Linux while the Mac OS laptop in the house is a perpetual battle to the point I just send stuff over to one of the Linux machines and print from there

@nixCraft IDK but it might be easier to just 3D print documents vs dead tree print 🤔

@nixCraft …ok…time to retire this meme. Printers were always shit for everyone full stop. Not just Linux. It was never great with Windows either. You just more that cater to the platform and they either devolve into some awful mess, leak data, or have some sort of proprietary nonsense you have to keep paying for.
Also…who the hell is still printing crap? I work for one of the largest, multibillion dollar corps in my area…they haven’t had printers in 10 years. I haven’t seen a copier in 5.
