@_elena I loaded Lubuntu onto an older HP laptop. It natively finds every Canon printer I've hooked up to it. As my windows computers have been left behind I've Linuxed them and given them away. Once you escape the Windows/Apple world, things open up :)

@_elena printers work when you don't need them and don't work when you need them.

And they are very creative in finding ways as of why they cannot work.

@_elena printers are just like that, basically all defective by design. It's not you, it's the darn machine. This is why entire movements, like free software, have started from a stubborn printer.

@_elena I probably am having a better day than you, in the sense that nothing is actually happening here. But let me say that there is often no greater challenge than a recalcitrant printer. if you do battle and lose, you can still hold your head high, and use it as a teaching moment for your five year old. "Some problems, like this printer, are much harder then they look, and some are much easier. Experience helps you learn which is which."
