The number of people choosing Linux as their primary operating system to play games has been slowly but steadily going up, at least according to the Steam hardware survey. This is most likely because of the Steam Deck release and the increasingly obnoxious features being added to Windows.

@nixCraft With all the Ai and stuff I'm honestly surprised they are not doing server side anti-cheats. Not only it would not matter if you play on Windows, Linux, Mac or Android, it would also be incredibly hard to bypass and debug as cheater. It's wild that cheaters can have god like stats in game and not be detected server side.

@nixCraft This is the dream and one of my only reasons why I don't run Linux on my main PC build because of gaming. Since I do indeed love to play FPS games which always usually require anti-cheat software on the system. The idea of having games specifically targeted towards Linux would be incredible too. I mean. Not sure if it's a solution, but maybe have a special server for just the cheaters to use?

@nixCraft i don't think any anti-cheat that can't run on linux is worth it tbh. especially kernel access anti cheats granting something like that kernel access is a hard red line for me
