I don't believe AR filters are harmful, but a few people in my replies do.
You can record a video with the new Loops Camera, using an AR filter, then save it to your camera roll and never upload it to Loops, allowing you to share it with anyone.
This isn't that different from editing a photo in my opinion, what do you think?
@dansup I don't think they are harmful either and can be fun to use. I was just confused about priorities as the promised UI is a year late.
But I honestly think the for you algorithm is. You might not send your data to big tech, but you're stuck with the same harmful addictive patterns big tech had invented to keep you trapped. So, I don't think people spending more and more hours in it's actually a good thing.
With Pixelfed for example, I found it's much better at avoiding harmful patterns.
@dansup I think its a good feature, and the fact you can use it without uploading is even better. I dont know why some people dont like that, i dont see any harm
