We sadly live in a day and age where dark forces gathered around the globe. As no day before in our lifetime its vital to stand #strong and #united in the face of evil.

#Progressive space is singled out by the enemy as a danger to them. It's not at all unthinkable, even likely that state actors closely surveil our #fedi #environment, looking for ways to weaken us.

We spread #activism here, forge #grassroots #bonds, lend supporting shoulders, take #care for each other. Build #resistance. ✊

Yet so easily we fight amongst ourselves: we block, we suspend, we ignore. Based on minute nuances of #progressive approach. Understandable. Our #moderation tools are but poor, our #culture fragile.

The #EU @ngi #grant programs and the hard work of @nlnet to distribute @EUCommission Horizon Europe #funding has done wonders to take #fediverse where it stands today. In my article I list all the many #FOSS projects that received stimulus and support during the years.

However something fundamental has been lacking in the mandate on who is eligible. Coding is Social. The support does not cover the rich tapestry of #expertise that end-to-end #solutions need during their lifecycle. Does not include fostering cohesive #technology ecosystems, healthy #OpenStandards evolution.

Effectively this creates a 'handover point' of software code from poor FOSS to others who earn a living with it.

Don't allow the enemy to use our #fediverse as a divide and conquer power tool, is I guess all I wanted to say. It is very easy now for the opponent to sprinkle the dust of dissent in our eyes, and just in the right places single people out, to keep us weak and under control.

We are strong though, #fedi united. My love and heart goes out to all of you, my fellow progressives. 💞

How do we form tight molecules together, collaborate with other atoms around us? Equivalent to what #FOSS tries to do. We need good chemistry to make that happen. Take shape together, #organize, find #governance.

Laws of Nature. With many other molecules and atoms like us, how do we #unite? Form cohesive bonds. Become something much stronger still. How do we reach atoms remotely in vast petri dish space, eternities away?

Akin to how we try on #fedi too. Form substance. Take more meaningful shape. But how? We're organic matter, and our tech is rock hard.

How do we form a biological #ecosystems within this dish? #Sustainable, able to #survive? How do we become alive, gain collective #awareness, #agency, ability to act as #collectively?

Finally how are we able to thrive? Find #freedom? Organisms liberated from this dish?

So much friction and heat in the raging discussions #ActivityPub vs. #ATProto 😭

🔮 What is *much* more relevant in #Bluesky vs AP is WHY ❔ Bluesky + ATProto gets the bigger uptake, despite compromising on #moral and #ethical values and #principles we hold dear.

Knowing the answers to that is where #opportunity for strategic action comes from. And subsequently following what you may call #FocusedPragmatism instead of just 'wild-coding' the chaotic #fedi with countless independent, uncoordinated "Show, don't tells" of yet more code to shove onto the #BigBallOfMud that fediverse-we-have increasingly represents.

#ActivityPubAPI provides such Opportunity.

To revive on a *greenfield basis* doing #Protocol design and adopt lessons-learned from APv1 #Microbloggosphere vs. #Atmosphere.
